Happy November! As the wheel of the year rotates again, we come to the time of going inward. This year I find myself exploring the topic of grief in greater detail. I have been reading The Wild Edge of Sorrow: Rituals of Renewal and the Sacred Work of Grief by Francis Weller. It’s deep and heavy but makes so much sense, and speaks to areas of grief besides losing a loved one, such as the sorrows of the world, what we expected but did not receive, and ancestral grief (which really feels close right now with the cycle of the year).

I also attended a 2-day Grief Retreat in October, where we used 5 Rhythms dance and SOMA breathwork along with other practices that helped me to liberate grief from my body. While I have my own things to grieve about, I also feel the grief that some of my clients experience, and try to hold sacred space for the expression of it during sessions. I especially find myofascial release to be a helpful modality to liberate experiences held in our bodies. If you’d like to explore this more, feel free to reach out to me.
And so I will be sharing things this month along these lines, and also invite the expression of gratitude as well. The human experience has both dark and light sides, ups and downs, and seemingly opposite emotions can be held at the same time. Those who know me well know that I can go from laughing one minute to crying the next as the full range of human expression plays out in our lives.
