Happy New Year! May your 2024 be healthy and prosperous.
This year I will be diving deeper into 2 of the 8 limbs of Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras: Yamas & Niyamas. Yamas are abstinences and how we interact with others, and Niyamas are observances and how we discipline ourselves. By practicing these, we can move closer to inner peace and bliss. I’ll be exploring these guidelines throughout the year for myself and offering thoughts along the way.
The first of the Yamas (restraints) is Ahimsa, which means non-violence towards others (and ourselves) in our thoughts, words, and deeds. We can practice this through kindness and compassion for others (and ourselves); this can include non-prejudice/keeping an open mind towards different ways of doing things. This can include our own self-dialogue – are you kind to yourself in your words and thoughts? Would you say things to yourself that you would never say to a loved one? Getting curious and aware is a great start, and having self-compassion is key.
I always try to bring Ahimsa to our sessions and hope that you can tell! Here are my openings for the next 2 weeks, shoot me a text (978-771-0377) or an email (harmonyintegrativebodywork@yahoo.com) if you’d like to make an appointment:
